James Dean

James Dean

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers
"

...a birthday tribute

"

James Dean

“…along came a spyder and picked up a rider

and took him down the road to eternity.”

James Dean

what a dream...

white tee shirt

faded jeans.

An angry young man

excess extreme,

living life upon the screen...

without a cause

a rebel, it seems…

James Dean

What a wonderful tribute! I admire James Dean as an actor, and of course, everyone's acquainted with his rebellious act and good looks. But god, does he fascinate me as a person; the place from where he originated and all the pain in his heart transferred into anger... I'm glad I came across this.

Very cool indeed, great flow and what a mess of a hunk he was!

Famous last words, 'That guy's gotta stop...he'll see us." No mention of rain after the Spyder was crushed. Another fine talent dead much too young. When I read it out loud the words morph into Rock On by David Essex. A good write about an incident now 61 years old, but some people are ageless.

With my older eyes it's odd how he looks so innocent in that picture. What was seen as a "rebel" then was so different. Love your words, the song, and how you brought it all together with your well chosen words, form and heart. It was a simpler time...

I borrowed that coat many times and I have to say it made a great fit. Insightful in a magic filled pen.

The song snared me...and those eyes!! ...many thanks, dear friend!
You so profoundly capture the essence of James Dean, flowing into the mystery of him that still carries his name forward. Brilliantly voiced.

I believe the mystery has a life of its own. Thank you for the warmth of your words, Craig!
dear Kelly, we had a "James Dean" in our class
of 1958. Too young to die, too wild to forget!
Your poem bears the touch of angel wings.
truly, Pat
