Leftover Love

Leftover Love

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Leftover Love

I never dreamed

you’d walk away

leaving me to figure out

the small stuff,

with empty bottles of Grey Goose Vodka

and a mattress fit for a King,

playing solitaire

upon the high thread count of sheets

of an unmade bed,

of a leftover love.

This is so painfully dark. Here is this loneliness made empty by the absence of all the life and passion that once existed there on that bed of Love. Such suffering in that now empty place. xo

It is a dark place to come back from, isn't it? Thank you my friend, and happy new year!

Very dark indeed, and I know the path far too well. A much happier new year to you now! xo
You have such a pleasant manner of reeling the thoughts...a tenderness always there and yet a flow that is always complete and addressing :)

You always warm my heart, Poppy....thank you!
Too bad the vodka bottles are empty. Loved the solitaire line, fits wonderfully within the wrinkles of this lonely but beautifully written piece. I liked this a lot.

Oh, those unmade beds....deserve novels! Delightful writing.

Unfortunately, those kings and queens often abdicate their thrones, and loves ones are left carrying the.....umm.....sheets.....

Just beautiful, Kelly. The sadness of a leftover love talks throughout the whole poem. Well done. :) Rudi

Thank you for your review!
The sadness plays deep into the sensuality of the poem. Where she goes from here is merely a guess but I'm guessing she will wrap herself in the sadness of the sheets.

You woo me baby!

Love,
Al

You've managed to write a sad yet beautiful piece all in one. Sad at the thoughts of being left alone, hungover from missing love. Beautiful in the way you describe things so perfectly.... you definitely caught my attention with the pic by the way haha :) Fan of your work my friend :)
