The Message of Christmas

 

 

 

I see Christmas

through the eyes of a child…

so magnificently its beauty shines,

like diamond glints of snow.

 

 

I feel Christmas

through the heart of a child…

an abundance of innocence and wonder

reaching far beyond the brilliance of a north star.

 

 

And through the laughter of a child,

I hear Christmas…

rejoicing its promise and mirth,

proclaiming the miracle of birth!

I have few memories of childhood Christmases. I believe losing my Dad at the age of six simply wiped away whatever joy there was, for nothing comes to mind when I struggle to remember. But I carry the season of it, the message of it, within my heart! Thank you, John!

Kelly, forgive me for barging in on this, but it's something I can relate to in my own way. My parents divorced when I was six. Although it's not the same as death, I realize, nothing is. it's effect has been profound on all of us. It was an angry split, and we kids, I'm the youngest of 4, I hardly saw him for years, and we've never been close, he and I, even now. It tarnished my view of holidays for years, there was always a sadness to them. I've always been the one in my family who wanted the family together and joining in on the fun. I think it harkens back to that time. At any rate,, Do have a wonderful Christmas, sweet friend!
