To Keep You Small

To Keep You Small

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

To Keep You Small

Tell me how

to keep you small,

so that you fit perfectly into my lap

so that my heart won’t break

when you no longer need

to take my hand,

to hold a balloon,

to blow a kiss.

Simple & beautiful sentiments of a parent . . . nice details & imagery. I love the photographer you've used here . . . elena shumilova (first name misspelled above, wanted to correct so people could go look at more of her stuff, if desired).

Every parents prayer... but then seeing the person blossom would be lost... time is fleeting, enjoy it. Its all ahead of me yet, but I remeber my nephews when they were small and cute and how quickly they seemed to grow up...

I have a son in his last year of college. Time certainly does fly, doesn't it? Thank you, Smitty!
The parents wish for the child to always be the chile, but as we know they grow into adults and then as we slip into our second childhood, they step up to help and say, "Don't grow old, I want you to stay".

Very nice work and I felt it in my heart. Thank you for sharing

Thank you, Willard. It was ever kind of you to say!
My youngest is leaving for Thailand in February... Empty house then.
Oh, it is a dream to live back in those happy memories...

I don't know which is sweeter...the inquisitiveness of the child, or the rabbit? Thank you so much,.. read more

i see my children here

we love our kids so much
wishing they would remain dependent on us

its a wish

until we walk them off to school and realize
they have grown and we need to go
