An Ode to Keats

My heart in heavy solitude

 longs for another spring,

like the outstretched wings of a sparrow…

like the dying breath of Keats.

it's a wonderful ode Kelly, as romantic as Keats himself... if he did get another spring he would have married his great love Fanny Brawne... they had decided to get married went he left for Rome... theirs was a tragic love, yet deeply felt and in spite of the norms of the day...

The brevity of the piece Kelly belies the energy in longing for life and the depiction of longing set within a stanza.

I love this, but feel let down by the shortness of it. It's like I'm dry and thirsty and you only gave me a drop to quench my throat. Anyway you could print the whole thing? Am I going to have to beg or scour the internet for it? CD

I find I am wrapped in rapture in reading your reviews, Ed...thank you so much!
dear Kelly, "like the dying breath of Keats"
is a mellow reflection of his desire to see another Spring.
Spring is an awakening that we all need to
appreciate and become part of the miracle of
rebirth. Your poetry always plays the violin
music of Vienna for me. truly, Pat
