And I Shall Love You

And I Shall Love You

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

And I Shall Love You

I may never write an American novel,
or win a Pulitzer prize.
I may never see Paris in the spring
or smell sweetly
the golden Iowa wheat.

But l shall love you…

And that is as clear to me as the Colorado mountains.
It is as pure to me as a Minnesota snow
and the perpetual rains that fall
in Seattle.

And while you are near
with the brilliance of a million stars in the sky
l will hold you,
longer than the Pacific is deep.
I will treasure you more than any jewel,
and remain yours
far beyond the pyramids of time.

And l will love you.

That is as clear to me as the Colorado mountains.
As pure to me as a Minnesota snow.

Beautiful words for the emotion of love.
"That is as clear to me as the Colorado mountains.
As pure to me as a Minnesota snow."
Rare is pure and unbounded love. When we find it. Need to hold on tightly. Thank you dear Kelly for sharing the outstanding poetry.

I'm glad. I love your work.
It's so pretty! It reads like marriage vows, which is a good thing :D The first two lines hooked me right from the beginning too!

I never thought of it in that way, Kelsey...you may have something there! Thank you!
A lovely write that sounded like you were saying your pledge, your promise to your lover. Just tell him to get it in writing from this page signed you lol:):) A heart felt poem straight from the hearty!!!

Isn't that one of the most impressive landmarks in Australia? Yeah, perhaps just a bit too heavy..... read more
beautiful analogies, nice use of repetition for the last two lines....a dramatic love poem...a romance novel in several lines of a fine piece of writing...

very, very moving.

Thank you, Jacob. It means a lot to me!
this is such a gorgeous write, Kelly; it's romance in it's purest form, oozing throughout...love the similes and the metaphor, 'And while you are near/with the brilliance of a million stars in the sky' is stunning...your romantic side knows no bounds, my friend!!
