Past Carolina

Past Carolina

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Past Carolina

I am fresh from a shower,

wrapped abundantly

in you

you whisper

that I smell of spring,

of falling rain

my hair cascades down,

your fingers traverse

the smooth topography of skin

mapping through southern states

like an atlas…

venturing to stay,

past Carolina.

I've often hung out there..."Past Carolina"...on Ocracoke Island with the stars and the sea and the lighthouse beacon sweeping the sky like the sword of an angel...I love the sound of the surf and the sea-salt smell riding the breeze. This was very romantic and soothing.

I did Kelly. I always enjoy your work.
having family living in North Carolina for years...i visualized the peacefulness, the silent dreaminess of the state mixed with the feelings evoked from the touch of skin...all wrapped into a very pleasant poem to read this morning...
bravo.
