In the Gloaming

I wait by the window

for your return,

like wilting flowers awaiting sunlight…

in the gloaming.

Kelly I sang a song called "roaming in the gloaming" for all my drinking adult life without realising what I was even singing. I know what it means now.

Such a sad, complete work of art here. Great imagery painted with words and the font choice is inspired too. Well penned dear friend. :)

Waiting is where the beginning of the first signs of an emotion we call anticipation is born.
Glee is when that emotion is replaced with fulfillment.

(or something like that....LOL)

...anticipation is a good thing...it makes us aware we have a pulse! Much appreciated, Trace!

Welcome!!!!
The waiting game - can be long sometimes. :o( Even though sad, this has a lot beauty in the way you have written it. I'm sure this would make a good spoken word - short, sweet, but reveals it all!

The weight of your words absorb me, Suzy...thank you!
There is so much desperation and death in this though cool calmness can be felt. The knowing the person may never return, like the aliveness of the flower because of the roots being cut off.

...such an astute observation, Nadia. Thank you!
I learned a new word today! XD never heard gloaming in my life so I looked it up; very clever! I liked the imagery and the staunchness of the last line especially. Nice write. :)
