Had we played on the same playground
l would have given you my swing.
l would have chased you down
till you could run no more,
for just a kiss
the slightest touch.
I would have captured fireflies in a mayonnaise jar
perhaps a monarch butterfly, or two
and carved the words, “l love you”
in the bark of a sycamore tree,
for all tosee.
The concept of this piece had me smiling. =) There are things that seems tiny and insignificant to us as adults, but when children make an effort to save another kid a seat on a bus, or a spot in line, or an extra lollipop - it comes with so much care. So to give your swing over to someone else, that's very special. Great depth, Kelly.

I think we have much to learn from children. Thank you most kindly, Kay!
Sweetness of innocents of youthful love Playground in my mind and the times I feel so helpless and hopelessly in love but the times they were a changing.
… but, for the privilege of playing with you, being chased by you, kissed by you, for touching you, receiving your gifts of fireflies and butterflies, standing before your carved words, "I love you", for the pleasure to stand before you and smile, I would be honored to "share" your swing, Kelly.
Beautiful work. I was rapidly transported back to a playground when I was 7. Good trip. Hopefully the next time I read your work I can more fully express my appreciation of your work. Very Very nice.

What a pleasant delight! Very innocent-like, puppy love...when kids fall in love, they're just happy to be beside the person, only a slight touch could make them so happy, they'd give their most cherished treasure, like a swing in your case. Definitely feel nostalgic from this!

If only we could go back to that innocence again! Thank you, Nadia.
this may have been the purest love since those few moments in "childhood" before the world revealed its true nature .... a time when "a swing" was akin to giving away the heart. your metaphores are soft . . . gentle and bring the reader to a place that resonates deep in that protected space. brava, lovely -- you nailed it.
If only those moments could be remembered every moment, we'd have found the key to it all! I can't remember the last time I read anything so simple that made remember so complex. You are such a lover to words, thoughts, and breezes.
