My Life, My Self

My Life, My Self

A Poem by Scirrocco

Rain drops upon roof tops
Tin roof's sound like snare drums beating nonstop
Stormy nights produce liquefied flights
Eye's slit soaring to new heights as I begin to write during twilight
I think about my road ahead as time ticks away
Worries and stress causing my hair to turn grey
Nothing in my life's simple; even the way I think
Here today and gone today, faster than the eye can blink
My reflection in the mirror shows my ageing transformation
Not getting any younger, life's a clock we're all facing
Sometimes it's hectic, at times we feel rejected
But I'm a grown man not an adolescent so I can handle it
Got to keep moving, no time for complacency
I never get cozy because comfort makes us lazy
Walkin the ledge, tips of my worn out Nike's pushing the edge
It's such a fine line between sanity and losing my head

I often sit back thinking, analyzing situations
Background jazz, smooth track off a Blue Note compilation
Just the right thing to help me calm my nerves
Time by myself, there's no need for words
Mind riding melodies carrying bags full of patience
Musical prescription like Thorazine to mental patients
Been through some s**t but no more than the next man
Still I got to live my life, come up with and work my own plan
At the end of the day I've walked miles in my shoes
Follow my heart till the end cause I can't afford to lose
So don't tell me how to live my life
When I've overcome its pain and strife, yeah I've paid the price
Smiles accompanied by scar tissue that just won't heal
Hunger for knowledge, demanding four course meals
Use to think I was untouchable taking on a rebellious stance
Now I wake up every morning thanking god for another chance

This was a very good write. This is not only your life and yourself but believe it or not, you've touched on some other lives also!

"My reflection in the mirror shows my ageing transformation

Not getting any younger, life's a clock we're all facing"- I feel you on this one!

"Sometimes it's hectic, at times we feel rejected

But I'm a grown man not an adolescent so I can handle it"- You had me saying me too with this one!

Like I said very good write my friend!
