SandA Poem by PoeticlicenceAbout time and what we are doing to our planet/modern day life
Behold:
A darkness approaches. And as time urges on, Into the purple sky we fly, Like angels draped in gold. Ready for a new tomorrow Though we may know not what it holds. Will clouds rise upon the horizon making the future unclear for even those with the best vision? Or will the sunshine warm our hearts and brighten our minds as we explore the infinite forest that is our world But can it ever be infinite? For while we explore with childlike curiosity, we forget our care for other living things and destroy what was theirs. Ever changing Cannot be ever lasting But for the preservation of the written word So digital our lives have become that we look up a forecast before looking out of the window Send a virtual hug a thousand times but never receive a physical one Is it real? Are we deluded? Can this still be called living? Who will take us back to the purple sunset and the stars beyond that used to guide our way before the first maps were drawn on the sands of Egypt? Where will we live when the forest has turned grey? Small are the memories of men For it was but yesterday That paths were made by the footsteps of herds of grazers When we shared our territories with greater creatures than ourselves Living as hunter and hunted Throwing spears into the darkness and lighting fires to see Until we found a greater purpose than simple survival And in that new happiness A knowing grew Greater than any before it For this was our world now But for how much longer? © 2017 Poeticlicence |
