That four-lettered wordA Poem by PoeticlicenceLove
Love is fleeting
Love is pink A cherry blossom Gone in a wink Something to cherish Be lucky to know To patiently wait Under mistletoe Love is lasting Evergreen A nostalgic photo Of a wedding scene Love is painful Love is cruel Spurning a classmate Just to look cool Love is gentle Love is sweet Sweeping someone Off their feet Love is forever Love is now Love is why and Love is how Let love blossom Help it grow Make beautiful flowers From the seeds that you sow Build a home From loving acts Laughter, smiles And remember these facts: Love is for all Young and old Small and dainty Big and bold Boys and girls And inbetween Love is found Not on a screen But in those moments That we share A glance their way A mesmerising stare A comforting hand When you need it most A union that warrants Ceremony and toast A master of touch A kiss thief With unwavering trust And sincere belief And when the lights And music go down You can hear it In the thrumming sound Of a heart beating wildly Inside a chest When a hand touches lightly On the back of a dress Kiss me forever Under our tree Where birds will chirrup And we can see Our initials carved Into the wood Declaring our love The way we should To keep it secret Would be wrong For in this Everlasting song I am your queen And you my king But I don't need A diamond ring Just a lifelong friend A walk along the coast Holding hands Heart-shaped toast Forget me not When I am old With greying hair Instead of gold My love still burns Like in that first mile When I made you laugh And saw your smile And though our journey Is nearly through You still need me And I need you I will go on loving you Though you may not know The time has come That I must go I depart from you Reluctantly I make my way Across the sea But know, my love And know it well Our love was the greatest story One could ever tell © 2017 Poeticlicence |
