Hope Smells Like Bacon

Hope Smells Like Bacon

A Poem by Melissa S

Hope Smells like Bacon

Early one morning in a small cafe
I wanted to disappear so I came here
with only a dollar to my name
The waitress was friendly and brought me some coffee
thank goodness the refills were free
She didn't ask any questions just simple conversation
It is like she knew exactly what I did need
She brought me a plate of bacon before I could resist
Then smiled sweetly and said "this plate will never be missed"
This waitress made me believe in people again and humankind
All because of simple kindness and giving me a moment of her time
To this day whenever I smell bacon I cannot help but to think of her and smile

It's nice to have moments like that in life that we can look back on with fondness. Nice poem.

You're welcome. It's funny how one can get hungry for bacon just by seeing it. :D
