Life Beyond the Cafe

the Café a beautiful place for writing, reading and reviews

but there are days that we get lost in this sea of stories

and time becomes an endless travel from one story to another

we get lost here, yet time keeps moving

so lets not forget that there’s life beyond the café

 

the Café is absolutely pleasurable 

you can find whatever you fancy

from romance to horror to a romantic horror

your every desire, every fantasy fulfilled

but we can’t get lost here there’s life beyond the café

 

the café brings us joy that is not found else where

but we mustn’t allow the café to rule who we are

we are unique individuals

can’t become obsessed with being number one

we must remember that there is life beyond the café

 

every new writing we add brings a smile to our face

every new review we get brings a smile to our hearts

those reviews that we crave, yes we crave them

makes each new writing more valuable

but we mustn’t torment ourselves there’s life beyond the café

 

so lets remember the “TZ LStine1’s” out there

and write because we love to

not because we’ve become consumed

with a pretty badge and millions of reviews

because life beyond the café can be beautiful

This is great! I love the message you gave to everyone. It was simple but still said elegantly. I think sometimes we do get lost in reading and wanting to be the top. I had forgotten how much fun it is to just write. Thanks for reminding me! Great write!

I have to write this. Before, at least I had some idea who people thought were good. Screw the Top for me. I've been there, but to take away Top writing leaves me no idea who to read. I read a new writer..I like it..and now what ? What benefit does she get in a world without competition ? You think the book world, the writing world is not competetive ? I'm serious..I don't know who, or what to read. Is she good, or did she just squeeze out a good piece. You think competiton means blood thirsty, conniving, treachery, popularity. No really good piece ever hit the Top ? New writers have no idea who their competition is. They get 14 reviews that say " You're great", then what ?
They should have a new writers Top Twenty. Somplace I know where to go. Someplace they can really see if it's good. I couldn't agree with you more about becoming addicted to the internet. It's unhealthy. But, if you truly are a writer, you will spend a great deal of time in front of a key board. I feel all I'm doing now, and all I'm reading, is " You are so talented"..You have such great rhythm," " Your words make me feel I was there."
I think taking Top Writing away, took away the brutal truths of life, and turned us into a safe haven where everybody is the same. That's cool if your just in it to get your feelings out to make you feel better. I asked one of the eight writers from " Prison Break" if writers were competitive. " Absolutely" was the answer. Did he kiss a*s ? Yep. Did he fight for his work to be seen ? Yep. All I want is to see a "list" of top young and old writings. Damn, we were all new once. Ok, I'm done. I hope I didn't offend anyone, but in the real world your work is going to be measured by other's work. Rain..

I absolutely have no clue who TZ LSTine1 is, but that would be an interesting story to know.
This is so true with about alot of writers out there. We sometimes get lost in the scramble to get more points. In a way it's nicer that we have to work harder to get them, and the badges are the same as points.

I totally agree with this! Any good thing can be taken to an extreme and when it is taken there it pretty much ruins it and takes the joy out of it. Gotta do a reality check from time to time.
