Please forgive me ... There are no other words I can say.

Nothing else I can do.

Except be ashamed of what I’ve done.

 

I love you, I truly do.

But I love you for what we had.

For what was once there.

It’s no longer about today.

 

I didn’t mean to do it.

I never meant to hurt you.

It simply happened.

I couldn’t stop it.

 

I needed love.

Love that you stopped giving me.

Love that made me feel.

Love that made me smile.

 

In a way it was my fault.

I should have said no.

I should have tried harder.

I should have told you.

 

But as I think back.

So many times I tried.

You never believed me.

You never thought I’d leave.

 

But one can only take so much.

I can no longer continue.

Living with all this pain.

Living with all this hurt.

 

Again, I apologize.

I know I have hurt you.

But you have hurt me more.

The wounds will never compare.

 

I want to thank you.

For what we had.

It was perfect when we did.

Hope the next feels just the same.

 

But today as I say goodbye.

I want you to know.

Such a thing is hard to say or write but there is such a lot of feeling and honesty in this piece that straightaway goes to the heart.
