When I Saw You

This piece of writing is about a person who had their heart broken by another, then saw them in the very same place they had once met.

I saw you the other day.

In the same place we met. 

I had remembered the first time I saw you;

When you smiled;

And took me under your wing.

When you asked questions;

Digging into my personal life.

I was there again;

Sitting in my chair, silent for a moment;

Listening to the silence in the room;

Listening for your voice to make my heart beat fast;

I waited.

An hour passed by.

Then finally my ears rang.

My heart beat quickened;

My palms became clammy;

My mind raced with thoughts of you.

And it was time for me to leave.

I rose from my chair;

Hoping you would see me;

And as you walked by;

I caught a glimpse;

And with that one glimpse;

Every conversation;

Every laugh;

And every smile that was brought to my face;

Flashed before me.

In that split second;

My world lit up;

Then crashed to the ground.

I still wonder;

If you knew I was there;

If your world was as bright;

If your world crashed to the ground;

Because if it did,

I wouldn't feel as empty.
