Damnation

Life, it’s beautiful,

But what’s beauty worth, when it’s been stripped of it's innocence?

We were sworn to silence, and so our silence will not be broken,

but there are those who feel the need to speak what was asked of us to never be spoken,

We’ve walked these streets everyday -we have to,

Dreams now filled with violence and hate, of past hurts,

And past rapes, I hear the screams echo against my skin,

 my flesh cools,

As across my vision blood pools, immobilizing me with

Scenes of war; ancient blood feuds,

Where the earth wasn't safe for Satan himself,

Where all were damned, where humanity fell........

I reckon where the world is now can't be that much worse than where it was during the world war eras and hundreds of years before then, only difference now we know about much more of the bad s**t that goes on than what ordinary people did back then because we're globally connected by media. The worst times are still yet to come...
Anyway I loved your poem it was well written and I will be reading more of your work, I've found it rather intriguing thus far.
Thanks for adding me too :)

Very well written piece. I must agree with this the world gets worse and worse by the day. Global warming and pollution from factories. Well Done very good piece.

A powerful statement of the cruelty and selfishness that dogs the world... maybe it's just more obvious today, with bigger populations breeding bigger problems...

Btw... 'stripped of it's innocence'... should be its (it's = it is)

That is a very lingering poem and well written:)

The poem is nice. You have shown the negative aspect of life very well. Sometimes things get worse but at times they are too good. Keep writing :)

Niyia, Well your profile didn't scare me off, I'll match my demons to yours anytime; your writing is very good, no hesitation just straight to the point. The world truly is a f**ked up place but you're lucky, you'll be around to see it get worse then realize how strong you are by surviving unscathed. It's like when I was in high school I would stand in the locker area banging the back of my head off of my locker. When others asked me why I did this I would say, "Because it feels so good when I stop." In your second line you ask, "Bur what's beauty worth when it's been stripped of its innocence?" Niyia, that is exactly WHEN you see what real beauty is, stripped of all it's baubles and fairy dust, pure raw beauty. Or maybe not, I don't know. Thanks for the friend request; this is my way of saying I accept. Now are you ready for ME? take care...dan
