Guardians of the NightA Poem by MsMermaidA question posed. A plea made. Owl photo from Alex Blok's Poetry Site. Angel photo found on Flickr.Guardians of the Night Nov 17 2011 by Airial Krystal Who are the ones that guard the night? Some say 'tis the stars and moon. But how can heavenly bodies Keep death from coming too soon? Who are the ones that guard the night? Some say 'tis the cold north wind. But how can something invisible Be my comforting friend? Who are the ones that guard the night? Some say 'tis the owl's bright eyes. But how can this creature of nature respond to my frightened cries? When I was a child, Mum and Daddy came When a bad dream haunted me. But now I am grown, with no husband to hold... No one to speak comfortingly. Who are the ones that guard the night? Angels? Or God? Tell me who? I'd like the guardians of the night To be there when I need them to. I'd like the guardians of the night To reveal themselves to me. So I can safely dream in my bed And know that I'm worry free. © 2011 MsMermaid |
