StingA Poem by MsMermaidLosing a Loved One Photo belongs to Public DomainSting Stinging nettles made me cry, Then Mommy sang a lullaby To help me forget about the sting. Oh how I loved to hear Mamma sing. One summer day I stepped on a bee And daddy lifted me to his knee. He stroked my hair to ease the pain, Then gave me a stick of sugar cane. That sting went away and off I ran To play with my friends, "catch me if you can". A jelly fish stung me on the toe. My boyfriend kissed away the woe. And quickly I forgot the sting When he gave me an engagement ring. But oh, this sting, this awful sting! Can't be sung or kissed away. It came in the form of a telegram I got the other day. Can there be a way to heal my heart? Can they put my heart in traction? For the words broke my heart, those stinging words... "Your son was killed in action."
