Fly SpyA Poem by Vanessa ChristineFor Kids! I'd love to have this animated :)FLY SPY Come in my parlor said Spider to Fly, So come in Fly did but didn’t know why. His mother had taught him he best be polite, But something ‘bout Spider just wasn’t right. “I’ll stay for tea but no time for lunch.” Fly knew as a larva his mother had said, “Watch out for spiders, they’ll play games with your head.” But Spider looked harmless, lonely, and sad- Fly thought, “Aw, he can’t be that bad!” He felt he was starving and tempted by fun, Fly agreed to a game, but only just one. But from Spider’s parlor Fly saw a strange sight, His friends were out back, tied up quite tight! Fly was a bit baffled, but hid his surprise And casually called, “What you doin’ here guys?” Nobody answered, they were all fast asleep. “Come sit down Fly, you’ve a promise to keep.” Spider handed him a hot cup of tea, Fly thought, “Hm, this is strange as can be… A spider and fly having hot tea with cards? With his friends all tied up in the back yard!” By now Fly suspected that something was up, So without Spider seeing, he traded their cups. Spider dealt out a very fine deck, But soon he yawned, as Fly did suspect. Spider sank down deep in his chair, And soon he was lost in a deep-dazzled stare. A snore and a twitch, he was soon fast asleep, Fly took his cue, and out back he creeped. He quickly went out to free up his friends, And they flit-flew away towards happier ends. Fly was lucky that his Mum was so smart, And that he kept his wits right from the start. So the lesson goes, you best-better beware, When offered to enter a strange spider’s lair.
