Chapter Two

Chapter Two

A Chapter by Ms.Rodgers

“You have no idea, Em. It was so romantic.” I groan downing the last bit of my
mocha from the cup, as I unlock my front door. Yet another weekend to spend with
Emily, being lazy, making art, watching movies.
“So, we should order pizza because I feel like carbing out and you’re way to skinny. And also just because both of us are too lazy to cook, and let’s be honest, you haven’t gone grocery shopping since last week.” Em sighs kicking her shoes off and shutting the door behind her. She’s at least as at home at my house as I am, if not more. I nod in reply as I throw my messenger bag on a hook. The house is a bit too large, for just me to live in. Mom and Dad wanted to have a lot of kids, but I ended up being a bit of a handful. Since I turned twelve, Emily has been spending almost every single weekend at my house. She’s got almost as much stuff here as I do. She helped me decorate the empty rooms of the house. We’ve explored it together. In the basement, there’s a contract saying we’ll be friends forever dotted with our blood. This house is as much hers as it is mine.
“So, do you think you two will have a thing?” Em hollers from the kitchen, she’s shuffling around through drawers, probably looking for pizza flyers.
“He’s straight, Em.  He’s perfect. But he’s straight.” I groan walking up the stairs to my bedroom. I sigh, slipping out of skinny jeans into sweatpants. Downstairs, Em turns on Katy Perry, it’s blasting loudly throughout the house. I shake my head fondly and look around my room. It’s neat, but very Aiden. White walls, covered in art. Sketches of mine, quotes, movie posters, the wall above my bed completely plastered in pictures. Mainly of Emily and I. The bed, with it’s plain black comforter is ruffled, slightly messy as always. The desk neat, covered in charcoal, extra pens and pencils, colored pencils, sheets of paper. I shake my head grabbing a handful of movies and heading downstairs.
“I like how you don’t have anything in your fridge resembling real food, but your
freezer is stocked with Ben and Jerry’s.” Emily rolls her eyes digging two spoons out
from a drawer.
“You love me.” I shrug hopping onto the black granite counter crossing
my legs.
“Yeah, I do.” Em replies, grabbing a two liter bottle of Pepsi from the fridge,
and pouring two glasses neatly. She hands one to me, setting the container of ice cream
on the counter between us, while popping the lid off.
“You’ll be such a great house wife.” I joke pecking her on the nose, while simultaneously digging my spoon into the ice cream.
“Thanks, you too.” Em winks sticking her tongue out at me. She flits upstairs. My
phone buzzes in the pocket of my sweats, and I fumble it out while turning Katy Perry to the slightly less offensive, sleepover play list. It’s good music, for the most part. Flipping my phone open, I cannot control the smile that washes upon my face. Opening the text, I smile brightly.
Hey, Aiden? Wondering if you’d maybe like to do something later tonight? -Evan
“Thank God.” I murmur under my breath smiling so hard my face hurts. Em’s tiny arms wrap around my waist from behind me, squeezing me tight. Her head rests on my shoulder blade. I let my hands rest on top of hers, leaning into the embrace.
“He wants to hang out tonight, Em!” I sigh, turning around to smile at my best friend. She’s so pretty, even in too big sweatpants and a sweatshirt.
“Invite him over for movies and pizza?” Em shrugs, as  I lean against the counter. “Great idea. Are those my sweats?” I laugh tugging on a strand of her hair.
“They look better on me.” Em shrugs hopping up on the counter opposite me.
Hey, Em and I are going to watch movies, and eat way too much pizza. You’d be welcome to join us, if you’d like. -Aiden
I hammer out the reply before I can over-think or criticize my words too much, and press send.  The next few minutes are hell on Earth as I wait for a reply.
Sure, sounds fun. Your place? -Evan
My smile is becoming embarrassingly large.
Yeah. 604 West Woodburry Drive it’s the fourth one on the left. Huge windows, hideous blue VW Bug out front. -Aiden
“You two are going to get married, artificially inseminate and have beautiful babies.” Em laughs messing up my hair. And shuffling through her Ipod to find some suitable music.
Cool. Be there in 30 minutes? -Evan
Thirty minutes. Thirty minutes of waiting, of reminding myself not to swoon. Thirty minutes of making sure Em doesn't do anything embarrassing.
Sounds great. See you then.-Aiden
I press send, letting out a tiny sigh as I look at Em.
“We’re not going to bother changing out of sweats are we?” I laugh hopping up on the counter, prepared to wait.

Good chapter. This line seemed a little stumblish- "It should probably worry me that she’s at least as at home at my house as I am, if not more." I got over it though. Cant wait to read the last and hopefully not final instalment.

Ps. Spent a month listening to Metric, love that band.
