Beach House

Beach House

A Poem by Lady M

It's the smell of the salt on

your skin.

Original sin.

My head rests where it ought not sleep.

In your eyes my secrets

will keep.

The grit of the sand on my tongue,

the scratch of the sea

in my lungs.

It will call and call

onto my heart into forever.

The waves crash inside my mind

every night that I lie.

The sea and you

are blue.

That line "original sin" is a killer. It implies knowledge, probably an interpersonal knowledge, and really sparks with meaning off the page. It also presumably could carry all kinds of moral baggage for some people, but I can only guess at that.
I also feel that I understand the "scratch of the sea / in my lungs".
I imagine this poem as something I hear when I put a shell to my ear on the beach. I don't care if that's a corny idea.

Good poem- I'm slightly confused by the last two lines, though. What do you mean by saying that he/she is blue?
