Wishing to be friends is quick work, but friendship is a slow-ripening fruit -Aristotle
While a myriad of proles pass through our exists,
Only a few meld, settle as sapling and subsists,
bulwark in dire straits, fetting joy in profuse.
Echt friendships enrich withal baring new avenues.
parrocking fidelity, vibrancy they assist.
Untold alliances, thrive not, wilt and desist
despite trestle, some come to be antagonist...
Douceur you thought had so much potential to sluice.
While a myriad of proles pass through ....,
Herein endeavors to be upright and honest,
A few spread like weeds to suffocate the very gist.
When garden of life hath consonance in misuse,
fail to halt kibitzing miasma... reproduces
Somewhen educe healthy existence to a twist.
While a myriad of proles pass through...
buzz buzz buzz my brain is buzzing your poem made my brain buzz. i guess i can add mindreader to your list of talents this is (and i say this with impunity) one of the most intellectually beautiful things i have ever read! your special language is one thing but the dulcet intonations and the double meanings of these words have me stunned. you have helped cleanse my spirit indeed knowing such a consonant spirit exists on this ball! I pray that you never change your ways... too! the phrase "while a myriad of proles pass thru." is stamped to my memory indelibly. The proletariat has a much deeper meaning from where you come the likes of which do not escape this bunny's comprehension. my stepson lived in your country for 6 years he was homeless there for 2 of them if it wasn't for a consulate he would probably be in jail now... he lost everything he owned stolen no passport nothing and then he lost his mind when the consulate found him they sent him back to us wearing a torn shirt and jeans taped up shoes (he walked 1200 miles sleeping in the jungle) carrying only a rug that could not be pried from his grasp upon entering the plane some merciful door man gave him to sleep on. his bed still rests over his rug and his mind is better but he does not function well he speaks like you German and Portuguese fluently some french and of course Spanish he has two masters degrees but cant take care of himself yet I think a great part of him is still out there in the miasma that you just cut so well. Eu me inclino para a beleza da sua mente Mrudula

Robbed of every thing homeless, and alone that he is so traumatized to such an extent. We find extremely gentle, kind people as well as extremely cruel and wicked in this world, Brasil is no exception... but here we encounter more morally corrupted that take advantage of kindness , and extreme criminal violence, (street crimes usually end up in a senseless heart braking tragedy for the victims, not satisfied just robbing ...for god only knows the reason why they shoot and kill their helpless victims). This not a very safe place for tourists and young people on their own. I hope and pray with gentle care and love your stepson recovers completely. I am so sorry this young man suffered so much.

Truer words haven't been written about friendship. Your poem brings to mind all those years when I would imagine friendships before I really got to know the people. It was as if my intention could make it so. But then I got burned a few million times & I've come to see that friendships develop out of reach of our meddling. When it happens, it just happens. I like how you present the truths of life without making it seem like a dramatic deal. It's just the way life goes! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Takes history to prove worth, perhaps?
True friends are those beautiful people who wake up whilst others sleep. Thank God for the many or few, they know what's gently given, shared and treasured. And so says your superb post, dear friend... to have written it proves what many forget, that what's both unselfish and sincere, remains. Thank you for reminding those who didn't remember that in the first place!

How I love your deeply profound, moving words and these quotes of such light. Friendship is truly a beautiful wondrous gift in this world of strangers, but it comes at a cost, of transparency and openness that can bring the most brutal wounds. Que você esteja sempre cercado pela alegria de verdadeiros amigos, precioso poeta. Um grande abraço.

Thank you dear Craig for sharing your deep thoughts, your beautiful friendship means a lot to me . Muito obrigada Querido. Tudo de bom para você.
Friends are tested in need and dire straits. Some act like friends but are wolves in sheep's clothing. Some live in a healthy existence while others live in an unhealthy subsistence. You can count true ones on few fingers. With this poem, you open up new avenues to enjoy your wisdom.

Full of wisdom dear Mrudula and your choice of language a real treat. I envisage you sitting with a treasured thesaurus beside you when you pen your lines. True friends are like gold and endure a lifetime. Acquaintances come and go. We meet many as we travel through life, but only a handful will become firm friends who will help you no matter what. A great read, thank you and sending you all good wishes.

Good friends last forever.
I like to think you can phone someone up after ten years and still go for a drink.
On the other hand, some you never want back in your life.
