Cycle

A Poem by Mrudula Rani

Time rolls as yarn on to spindle
Pleating weeks, months, and many a season
With slew of substance upon spool,
Weaves the loom of life a florid yarn.

As past piles up and future pares,
Next stop, only the heaven's door.
Paved a prized path for re-entries,
for Karma, the valid auditor!

had to read several times ..this travels from the everyday to deeply spiritual and philosophical in so few lines .. i like the assonance, the whole knitting thing .. really like the transposition in V1 L4 ..it has a strong rhythm to it ... i could go on as for me every line and word gives me pause to think and let it soak in .. words like pleating, florid, pares, and wonderful closing "...valid auditor" ...top notch says i!

Karma does demand payment. Live a bad life. You will pay in three-fold.
"for Karma, the valid auditor!"
I did like the ending above. Thank you Mrudula for sharing the amazing poetry.

Gee
And whilst you sit amongst the Angels I'll be toiling away with the devil himself, shovelling coal onto fires that will sear the souls of the very bad. However, I'm okay with that, will save me from buying a gym membership to keep fit and I also hate the cold.
I agree whole heartedly with Neville Mrudula, you wield a very fine pen.
Hope Sunday finds you all in rude health :)))

Thank you dear Andrew, for your very kind words.
You dream up some of the most amazing & startling analogies! This one really tickles my fancy, thinking about life & time as a spindle with thread winding on (great visual) . . . I found myself thinking about how the thread color & texture may change, causing various pile-ups and parings (love first line of 2nd stanza). The last two lines are thought-provoking . . . I don't often ponder how the end of life plays out . . . what happens when breath ends? I love this: "valid auditor" . . . in other words, I won't have any bozos judging my journey! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie
