Drama Queen

Drama Queen

A Poem by Mrudula Rani

Many a Diva on this world's stage giving cringe-worthy performances,
Proclaiming doom and gloom upon the world that does't pay it reverence.
Exists the narcissist in both men and women.
Giving a vile production of one-person act, a self promotion.

Exhibiting their petty personalities without inhibitions.
Bickering at the conditions of work, that's it's last station.
Demands rest of the cast should place it on a pedestal,
For it isn't getting the spot light that it lusts.

Broadcasts often the audience are sub-par,
Vents that the company it keeps is none the better.
It perceives that applauses others receive diminishing its luster,
Insults one and all that is not its admirer.

Storms out of the stage every hour hoping
the rest would follow begging for it to return.
Back on the stage before the call of curtain
for drama queens don't stray far from attention

Divas live in an eternal state of rage and insecurities,
love spreading poison at random.
Forever tarnishing its own talents with endless tantrums.

Plus, who knows; might turn 'em orange...
Nice work, Mrudula.
You paint a compelling picture with words, which is the very purpose of writing.

Thank you, Angel. For Your very kind review.
I've missed seeing you here at the Café, but please know that I understand your life must come first! (((HUGS))) This poem reminds me of the impression I get from watching various TV programs -- reality shows where people compete for to be the center of attention, political news where our drama queen president clamors over his daily grievances, musical performances where bared body parts jiggling seem to be more central than musical talent, on & on. You always make such wise observations about life! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Ughhhh!!!! I am so surrounded by this all the tome. Your description is spot on. Although all things being equal, sometimes I get called a drama queen as well. Loved the harsh reality.

Gee
I have carpenters who behave like this, take, take, take, give nothing back and really do need a good slap !!!
Brings to mind Neymar and his " rolling around" and inability to put the good of the team before his quest to be recognized. Man, he got some stick from the press and pundits over here. He's got all the talent in the world but seems to have a vacuum between his ears !!
Morning Mrudula, hope you are all well

It must be hell for the ones around divas. Getting one's bottom wiped by others really is demanding.
America looks after her divas, they seem to give them rocket status.
In Britain, we build them up and then dump them.

Now take a deep breath count 1,2,3......
I agree with you..I must say you portrayed the diva very well..I liked that you chose a topic like this..You know there world might appear glamorous from outside but behind their every fake smile , number of tears that are hidden , we can barely imagine it..I loved the way you portrayed everything....Actually when I look at celebrities there are many things that come in my mind like though they are famous but they can never enjoy the private life that a common person enjoys..
Keep on writing..

I think you have summed up the Diva very well in your lines M. When I look to the celebrity world there are several I can think of. Such a pity because they have such huge talent and are so admired. As soon as the Diva starts to show, I find them off putting, regardless of talent.

Even were I so inclined, there is nothing, here, with which I can disagree.
A comprehensive and perceptive portrayal!
