I Need

I Need

A Poem by Mrudula Rani

I need step-ladder to reach even not-so-tall places.
I need a cup of coffee to wake up my thoughts from inert mind.
I need his warm furry face kissing mine to tell me of his love.
I need your arm across my heart to comfort me if I weep in my sleep.
I need you to hold my hand to stop me from a stumble if I lose my step
for I am lost in thought.
I need structure to my life, to fill in the void.
So I won't be searching for those I lost in the past.
I need your assurance that you will be there till the end of our journey,
for alone I will drown in sorrow of your absence.
I need no flowers to mark special occasions, for they wilt and
Indicate the sweet moment has already gone past.
I need no pep talk to boost my confidence, your smile does that in an instance,
I need a friend who doesn't demand or discard my affections.
I need to know that you need me as much as I need you.

Thank you dearJY. I appreciate your visit.
Very nice and different from your other writes. We all have those needs and desires and would like to have assurances. Knowing the person is important as needing them as you state. Relationships are built on solid knowledge and foundations to prosper and grow. Marvelous dear poet.
