With a friend like you.....

I have decided to Keep off your dramas,
and mind my own,
after weighing the pros and cons.

You seemed to have gotten used
to me playing the fool
who puts on your face a smile.
but never gets the dues.
You like to play hide-and-seek,
While leaving me hiding,
you go seek someone else.
You assure me that you still care,
and treat me like an ex of your's.

this emotional roller coaster
has left confusion in my heart,
and my patience in tatters.
They say friendship is precious.
Ours is nothing but a source of my stress,
With a friend like you
Who needs enemies?

True friendships last the course regardless. I have very few friends, but the ones I have, have lasted donkeys years. They are the ones who will be there for you in your hour of need, and the feelings are reciprocated. Then there are all the others. They are the ones, that play games. I can't be doing with dramas either and the roller coaster ride some people take you on. Best to call time on those. I enjoyed your poem and can understand how you feel. You expressed yourself well and your final two lines came across with a punch.

Your message sounds unequivocal, yet your writing style gives that perfect send-off: I’m better without your chaos (shown instead of telling). The older I get, the less patience I have for people who do not add much to my life, yet they seem to be tugging on me to get more of my attention! I guess attention is a treasured commodity & I’m only giving it to the people who brighten my life regularly! Very true when your dear ones give you reason to stress why do we even need enemies... so very true Mrudula...
I guess it's just for the sake of the game...or the trill ... to seek and once we are there where they want us to be.. they loose interest... it seems like the season for that these days
