Please tell me

Please tell me

A Poem by Mrudula Rani

Please tell me why do we still tolerate trophy hunts
and rides on elephants?
Even after we have the knowledge of animal psychology.

Please tell me that gun stores do display warnings;
" guns and hate don't go hand in hand, people with guns
can kill and destroy families".

Please tell me not all auto repair shops for automobiles
are run by con artists,
" leave the car, when the job's done we will phone you"
is a standard advice?
(He handed a piece and said he changed it, and charged a bundle!
I found the same piece last week when I opened the grinder!)

Please tell me why all the ATM's biometrics
can't read the same fingerprints?

Please tell me why your silence pains me
more than your sarcasm?

Please tell me why sad songs and sound of your voice
leave me hankering for tight embraces?

Please tell me why romance is so imperative
for the happiness of my heart?

Please tell me why I have an urge to put a paper bag
over my head and sit in the corner and be invisible,
when I feel I have over stated my mind or under
appreciated your hand.

Honesty, truthfulness, sense of fairness--these things are important to only some of us, I'm afraid. Maybe it's because we're born with a conscience that troubles us when we stray, while others are not. A higher power watches, keeps a score, and will confront us with it one day, so I believe.

So many questions and what a way to question them, i could see how humble you are and how pleasantly you raise your doubts. I could relate to your concerns, kept me thinking for some time. Glad i read it. lovely poem Mrudula.

Thank you Prynka, for your wonderful thoughts on my humble words.
This is kinda unexpected from you! I’m in total agreement with many of your gripes, especially the ones about animals, guns, & silence. You state your observations in a soul-searching way . . . as none of us knows the answers, but we can relate to the various frictions you describe with strong details. Then your poem seems to soften a bit toward the end, with more pleasant observations. It’s like when someone comes home from work filled with stress, everything bugging him/her, but then seeing one’s beloved, that tension starts to melt. That’s the underlying sensation flow behind your words & I love the way that happens in real life (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I am glad you stopped by. Thank you for reading.
I don't know if we can live in a continual state of joy without taking that joy for granted . The bad times make the good times so much sweeter and something to look forward to. It's only when we have more bad times than Good is when we start to question the meaning of life and everything else. I do know that to tell someone who is depressed that it is always darker before the dawn is like a slap in the face. It is right though to question cuz if we do not question then we will not grow. Great poem, Mrudula. Got me thinking this morning. I know, heaven forbid, right?

Life is hard. Things add up and we lose trust in people. The disappointment is not only hurtful but sad. I've never understood life myself.

There are without any doubt so many questions and conundrums that will perplex and confound all of us from time to time, some more so than others.... What keeps me reasonably balanced and some might argue that I am not, is the knowing that everyone has the same and similar doubts, even if they are unwilling to admit, even to themselves that they do.........AN interesting take on a global human phenomenon or predicament depending on which way the wind blows...........Neville...
