To hell in a hand basket.1

To hell in a hand basket.1

A Poem by Mrudula Rani

I counted my stars when you walked out.
Do you wonder what ever happened to
the love you said mine?
It all went to hell in a hand basket.

Do you wonder why I never called you to fight
you with a new girl, stealing glances to see if Iam fine,
I counted my stars when you walked out.

I still find you lingering in my thoughts,
When you kiss her lips do you remember mine?
It all went to hell in a hand basket?

All those hopes and dreams you spoke like you meant,
When you brush hair off her face do you see mine?
I counted my stars when you walked out.

Was there ever a time you were real in our past?
the memories of holding me under the stars and moon,
It all went to hell in a hand basket!

You are a thing of my past I don't want to rewrite.
What goes around, comes around. You will have
your share of pain
I counted my stars when you walked out.
It all went to hell in a hand basket !

As I mentioned in another poem of yours just now, the repeating lines work well in the flow of your message. I love reading both #1 & #2, becuz of the comparison of TONE mostly. Here, you sound mostly like a liberated person who is energized by the end of such hell. But in the next version, you sound very sassy & fun, like maybe you've been reading Paul Bell a little too much lately! *smile* I love the both together becuz it's a logical progression from slightly bemoaning a separation, to celebrating it & shoving the remnants in the "ex's" face. I love the title, even tho this is a cliché, it's not one that's used these days, so it has a freshness to it, as if re-emerging from an old style of language. As always, you use a ton of original details to get your point across with a powerful sense of liberation (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Why is it always a "hand basket?"
Why can't things go to hell in a bicycle basket?
In any event, an excellent piece of work!

Há tanta dor que perdura ... as sombras escuras que te assombram. Suas palavras recriam o mundo do amor que fugiu do seu coração para o coração do outro. Minha alma dói.
