Tea leaves and Tarot cards

Tea leaves and Tarot cards

A Poem by Mrudula Rani

I need lessons in reading tea leaves and tarot cards.
The daily dose of horoscopes journals dishing out isn't sufficient
for my astrological needs,
They are never clear what's in the fine print of destiny.
I am in need of a new psychic to cultivate the minute details,
To read what the zodiac signs are singing between the lines,
And to capture the fortune that's slipping through the strainer,
Every loto ticket I ever bought so far built me castles in the air.

I am not willing to sacrifice a chicken or a goat for a good omen,
For I believe robbing a life leaves a trail of blood to heaven.
I am not keen on knowing the grand plans of future,
For I don't want to steal life's pleasant surprises.
I need't predict the storms and norms of fortune
For luck is what we creat when we get opportunities.
If iam assured my tomorrows will be as sweet as today
In the company of loved ones.
I believe iam in every sense a guaranteed winnner!

This is definitely one of the best of yours I've read so far! This is truly brilliant & captivating! I love the way the first stanza sounds like a rant, but in gentle, playful, tongue-in-cheek tones. There's amazing word-crafting: "slipping thru the strainer" (stunning!) . . . "fine print of destiny" . . . on & on! I love the way the second stanza goes even further outside the dots from astrology, feeling so uninhibited as you discuss these various loosely-related concepts around seeing into the future. The ending feels like a departure from the beginning, but I got to take this winding convoluted road of exaggeration to get there! *smile* Fondly, Margie

I was about to recommend reading chicken innards as a jest until I scanned your second stanza. Beat me to it. Really nice poem with a great ending. I guess winning is in the eye of the beholder. CD
