A pet's love pales all your possessions.
And it is precious, without a doubt!
You find a pal for life when you adopt a pet.

A pet's devotion is divine.
I speak from experiences of mine.
It's heart overflows with affection,
At the sight of its beloved human.

If they could, they would write volumes about their loved one.
In their world, their favorite person is the king, queen
And every title that entitles them the highest available honor.
They give ten folds in return for every received gentle gesture.

Only the ones that are made of metal, would treat an animal cruel
and betray that trust.
When a helpless creature is abused, a ripple of pain runs through
the animal lovers' breast.
To plan and carry out a cruel act takes someone
with stone cold heart-
I pray that no pet ever meets one!

This is one of the best poems I've read all week! I love all the unique & relatable ways you describe the pet/human relationship & how it's so rewarding. There's nothing like it & you get that across so strong. Re: your Karen Davison quote (above) . . . I used to teach volunteers at the animal shelter & in my training sessions, the shelter manager would always come in & talk to the new volunteers & she always told that quote. It's easy to feel sad when we can't save them all. But the ones we can touch, this will make all the difference for them! *smile* Fondly, Margie

You have to have a tortured soul to be cruel to animals.its been over 30 years, since I was a young boy, when I was witness to the worst animal abuse ever.I HAVE NEVER FORGOT.Never heard the Gandhi quote.that will stay with me for a lifetime as well
