My imagination

Imagination is more important than knowledge-Albert Einstein

My imagination sets sails on lotus leaves and paper boats;
for I never meant to travel far.
I Just wanted to picture The little Mermaid's adventures along the
foamy edge of ocean's floor!

My imagination builds nests high up in tall tress,
Made up of sticks and twigs; materials ordinary and free!
For I wanted to be close to the singing birds,
And the whispering winds!

My imagination constructs castles in the clouds;
the morphing mist,
To the four corners of the world it drifts.
Trips to seven wonders on a thrifty ticket!

My imagination places palaces on mountain tops
In fairytale grandeur;
Surrounded by a celestial view and solitude,
To grasp the angles and the heavens!

My imagination builds doll houses on carpets of magic weave
Carrying me to the land of make believe!
As innocent as child's world, plots no evil!

Mansions of magnificence my imagination builds,
With no mortgage bills!

This is the crux of my current life! No longer able to get around beyond my immediate surroundings, my imagination must be employed to do what I can no longer do now. You've painted this with a nice balance of manmade delights & natural wonders, with good details that conjure up adventures in our minds. I so agree with your premise, that imagination is much more valuable than having STUFF that allows us to do this & that. Life was never this expansive when everything was literal -- often so many expectations & disappointments. But in our imaginations, anything goes! *smile* Fondly, Margie

This is a wonderful poem, so rich in images and cleverly used words. Your imagination does you justice! And the ending is amazing, sending one soaring, and then coming down to reality with a bump (that pesky mortgage!) Nicely done.
