Please, Don't Go

Please, Don't Go

A Poem by Mrs.Sophrosyne
"

9/20/10 My cousin killed himself last night, he is my uncles only child... He has three young children... He has a very large family all who love him very much and yet he still chose to die... Why?

"
Sometimes the clouds are dark
And the rain just pours on down
The night is cold and endless
And you''re feelin' like you'll drown
Your sightless eyes are empty
There's a dampness in you soul
You feel the dark consuming
Like you'll never again be whole
You're so far from the light
And slipping further away
You cry yourself to sleep
But there's nothing you can say
You feel like there's no choice
No way but the end
But all you really need
Is to turn aside to a friend
I'll be that friend if you let me
I'll stand beside you through it all
Don't think that life's not worth it
Turn to me, i won't let you fall
When you find yourself near the edge
Just turn to me and I'll hold on
Please, Friend, don't leave me
'Cuz when you're gone you're gone.
Many just can't see it
The darkness in your eyes
But I can see the emptiness
I can see the pain through your lies
Know that I am here
And many stand beside
Don't have to face this on your own
If you can just give up your pride
I know sometimes you're hurting
But, trust me, it's worth the fight
Please, Friend, don't leave me
I'll show you to the light
Don't give in to your demons
Please, don't let them win
I will hold you up and fight beside
We'll make it better then it's been
Take a step back
Away from the dark
Even in the darkness
there can still be a spark
To light up the shadows
And to abolish the pain
It not about ending the storm
It's about dancing in the rain.

Author's Note

Mrs.Sophrosyne
I know this isn't very good... but i got home from school and was met by my parents crying at the door. He was young, he had 3 young beautiful children, a loving family... He was a good friend and cousin to me, less then 18 days ago he wished me a happy birthday and told me he loved me. I just wish I had had time to write him back... I last saw him at Easter... and now he's gone.... R.I.P. David Reddersen, We love you always and forever, I just wish you could've seen that and that it would've been enough....

Beautifully sad tribute to deal with such a tragedy. I think it is quite good.

Goodness! So sad! This poem was very well written. The thing I love is that this poem, all though heartbreaking, is real. There's real emotion and pain embedded into this poem which makes it that much better! My favorite lines, "It's not about ending the storm/ It's about dancing in the rain." Those are words everyone should live by! Your poem was amazing! I wish you the best! Take care! :)
