This is My GoodbyeA Poem by Mrs.Sophrosyne8/24/10 My father got a job in Southern California. My family is moving this coming summer. I've lived my entire life in the Northeastern United States, in the same community, in the same house.Never again to feel then tender the kiss of a New England summer Or the loving touch of an Eastern Spring No more to hear the lapping of gentle waves Upon the rocky Eastern Coast The bitter sting of winter’s breath Shall no longer my skin caress No more the leaves of autumn change And the glorious clothes of my home Fade from brilliant green To the fiery coat of orange and red Goodbye my home Goodbye sweet native land The soil of this place bore me to life Yet now I must leave her. I am destine for another rest To where I must travel now A place where I may cast down roots anew The life I saw so clearly Mapped out, invisible but to mine eyes Now lies scattered on the floor The love that held me tied to this place Now is broken and confused. I am now the unfaithful lover Of she who has raised me Of her who watched me grow Though sorrow tugs my heart And I know I shall miss her dear My new home calls to me That I may find happiness there. © 2010 Mrs.SophrosyneAuthor's Note
