Lonely DayA Poem by Mrs.Sophrosyne6/9/10 part of a poetry compilation "on addiction" for a Creative Writing course I took this past year. (Title image by witchlady750 http://witchlady750.deviantart.com/)
Addiction is a lonely Life
And a lonelier end Because that's all it is A wound you cannot mend And when the day comes That you awake alone Clear eyes and truly awake For the first time in a long time You'll stare into the unknown With no one by your side You'll look down into the darkness The all consuming abyss from which you have returned You'll search for the light in the tunnel Some trace of hope for the life you had But there will be nothing No love you once knew No smiling face or tender caress Nothing made it through Nothing survived Through the storm of your addiction The tempest of your warped mind And when you finally awake If you wake up You'll see You've been left behind
