I KnowA Poem by Mrs.Sophrosyne7/4/2010You spoke sweet words to me Whispered secrets you spilled into my heart Playing songs with notes that only I knew Or so I thought You called me when the moon shone Bright upon the winding road The convoluted path you said we would traverse together But today I awoke and found your bed empty And a note upon the pillow where you once rest A note that tore my heart from inside me I would never love like that again The green worship if a youth untested I would never love you again As I knew You had never loved me. We were two birds Converged on a common road And we came to journey a time together Beat for beat, mile for mile But on our path lay hidden snares Set to rend us from the tranquility of bliss And in these traps we lost our way And in that way we lost one another Our paths diverged from the one we'd shared And too long had passed for us to be righted So now I am alone And I soar on through the miles Stripped of my heart And lighter for it But I carry on I know someday our paths will meet And we may rest beside awhile And speak a time of our travels But I will never love like I once did I no longer feel the spark of youth And I know I will never love again As I know You never loved me. © 2017 Mrs.SophrosyneAuthor's Note
