Too Gone

I wrote this to my ex after he accused me of cheating... 7/8/2010

I’ve been down this road

Too many times before

I’ve driven past your house

Every night since we said goodbye

But I never have enough courage

To walk up to your door

Misguided mistrust

Is enough to break any heart

And you broke mine

You thought I lied

And inside I died

As you yelled and screamed

Accused and abused

I slowly pulled away

And when you whispered

“I’m sorry,”

I was too far gone.
