Memory

"
I've never really noticed
how easy it is
to let dear sweet memories
slip away.

I hadn't realized
how long it has been
since the last time I'd pictured
your eyes.

Has it been
hours or days?
Weeks or months since your memory last
warmed me?

How long has it been
since I last recalled
your smile, your laugh, your walk,
your touch?

How can it be
that something like you
someone as important as you can
slip away?
