UntitledA Poem by Mrs.Sophrosyne8/1/12 cover image by bing-bam-boom (http://bing-bam-boom.deviantart.com/)Strawberry stains and summertime Nothing but the peppermint sky And cotton candy clouds With the pounding of saltwater waves My heart pounding in my ears As my feet pound down the pavement A sweet memory not yet burdened Weighed down by the turning globe The expanding of the world slowed My body grew to take it all in The sweetest sting of nostalgia And an unknown taste upon my lips Ideas came and went Time flowed on and eddied as it broke The time when the world was big And I was small Now sticky sweet memories In a place I can’t quite recall With friends whose faces blur into the past Untried and wobbly In this new grown up world As new hands touch my skin His unsteady breath fills my lungs And my heart beats with hope undaunted Everything is new here Only then crushed Smashed beneath his oppressive love Bruised by his puckered lips Too scared to break free A proffered escape eagerly taken Places not yet ventured became home While the future once more burns brighter And hotter than I dare try to grasp, yet Its white halo seared into my eyes Outside of the peaceful bubble There is a bustling world I’ve yet to know Yet to touch and leave my mark I’m now awake With eyes wide open Terrified and troubled Haunted by scars I can’t escape Twisted around a past that impedes me Waiting for my time to shine To burn with passion Slough off the layers of past shame And burst into Life © 2012 Mrs.SophrosyneAuthor's Note
