A Day I'll Always Remember

Special day in my life with a special person.

I remember that afternoon well
I couldn't hardly ask
I was so nervous, even though it was small

After teasing me a bit
To my utter surprise, you said yes
And so started our short journey

You showed me so awesome stuff
Cool things in your building
And you were just so nice, it made me feel safe

Then you showed me the top floor
That overlooked the city that I love
And mimicked a poem close to my heart

And as I looked out and tried guess where everything was
I could see you smiling out the corner of my eye
And in that moment, I knew I could fall in love with you

At a hard time in my life
You gave me a jumpstart, in heart and mind
And this I will never forget

That day
That moment
I don't think I'll ever forget

Even though we may never be together
I still have to thank you
For letting me know that you cared
