Little Carbonated Bottle of Happy

Little Carbonated Bottle of Happy

A Poem by Mrs MelRose
"

Mike's Hard Lemonade... Need I say more?

"

Little Carbonated Bottle of Happy

Big Tears

No escape

But I have to get away

I grabbed the 11.2 oz bottle of happy

And as soon as it grazed my lips

I floated away with the light air bubbles to another place

The day's troubles

The night's fears

Disappeared like the footprints in the sand

The voice of reason

The feeling of control

Both were hidden away in my mind

No emotion

No thinking

Just pure and floating happy

I remember every word I said

Every utterance from out of my hearts abundance

All I could think about was what was most important to me

After the happy had worn off, almost 15 hours later

There was nothing there but pain and guilt

Nothing had changed; I had just gone for a while

You can tell that it hurt me

You can see it in my eyes

And by the look on my face

Conscience rattled

Emotions shattered

Was it really worth it after all?

The escape comes at a price

So I ask myself again

Was that happy really worth it?
