Tin Box

Tin Box

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

Filed away insid a box
Behind the letter "E"
Is where you'll find my picture
Labeled "Everlasting Memory"
Forget me not for what I taught
Of how I helped you grow
You might not give me credit but....
You and I both know
The smiles, the years
The pain, the tears
Were those a joke as well?
You'll knock again I'm sure my friend
But only time will tell

Beautifully captured Mr L. We all have boxes filed away, hoping that one day we can look through them again at the happy times and know they were truly happy, even if we didn't realise it at the time. I hope your paths cross again one day and you get to share those memories once more.

Enjoyed the humour, respect the meter, intrigued by the message, want to know the ending!

My friend your words keep their own rhythm and their meaning strategic as they hit their target. This Poem frames up a bitter place so nice neat. I to have your picture dear. It is pressed against an aging stack of my baby's snap shots between siblings and distant relatives. Filed under L for Let go but Love you still. You have a brilliant way with words. Friend's till the end.

I have one of those boxes. You've captured the emotion that they so often hold. Nicely done. R xo
