The Pile

The Pile

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

Among the jumble of keepsakes
The gems and the jewels
There were slices of heaven
And promise for fools

Pieces of places with names
From the past
Framing the faces Who's smiles
wouldn't last

Some shards from the mirror
Some ash from the flame
Some whispers of stories
Whose end never came

The voice of a victim
Who cannot be heard
Letters in limbo
That don't spell a word

The cipher, the shadow
The run away train
The cycle repeating
Again and again

The pile so high that
It's top I can't see
All falling so far
So far behind me

This Poem, is so beautifully written I wouldnt change a thing. I Am in awe ......your words they strike me with such presission and they show no mercy. Yes, life will grant us with beauty and in an instant take it away. "Some shards from the mirror, some ashes from the flame". Here lies the past, the secret of the universe, the reason we stay in the safest place we can manage. To not let go. I have such attachments, strong proud and reaching. I take it all to heart. How do you let go? You have my weakness, wrapped up nice and neat in a perfect little package. You my friend have moved me and something I deny is pushing for the surface.

Sheer Terror

Thank you for your comments on my writing, I think you might be on the right track with some of the things you said. I read a handfull of your peices this morning and it's this one, that had mirrored my own outlook recently. However I would like to say keep the faith my friend!! Because at the end of the day it matters not what others say and do to you, its what you say and do to others that matters. I think if you can look yourself in the eye you win!!!
