Tender Feet

Tender Feet

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

Though they may be deep
I will fight to keep
My head above the waters
Of forgetfulness

Through the ashes sift
For your precious gift
How I cherish so
Your ungratefulness

So hollow am I
Without my sorrow cry
Lest I be but just
Another shade

If not for tender feet
Would crumble brittle leaf
Tread softly now upon
This heart of mine
