So much alike

So much alike

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

We are so much alike but stand so far apart
That we don't even recognize when patterns start
We make our own monsters,we create our own hell
We drink our own poison and we cast our own spell

We have our own heaven, we find our own peace
We build our own prison and procure our release
We count our own blessings,we bear our own cross
We chase our own rainbows and mourn our own loss

We burn our own bridges,we reap what we sow
We throw our own stones and we teach what we know
We sleep with our own filth, we make our own beds
We fight our own demons that live in our heads

We make up our own minds,we all have a voice
We all have a need and we make our own choice
We all have but one chance,we all draw the line
This world is my oyster and this life is mine

After reading some of your works, I find that you have a good taste for some of the stuff I write. Your imagery is well in play in your works and I really enjoyed reading this piece. Thanks for sharing your work.

We are friends, till the end. We review the others plite and we learn how to write.
My friend I do not think it is at all possible to read your work and not get deep into it and all up in your kool-aid.

Its so personal and righteous. "We burn our own bridges, we reap what we sow" It is perfect, it is appropriate right here and right now. It anchors me.

"We chase our own rainbows and mourn or own loss." There are no rainbows. Rainbows suck. You, you are such a strong writer that I have a battle going. Is this the deepest thing I have ever read or is it a limerick I will sing my great grand children. You have a Gift, as hard as I am you have me skipping to a tune and reflecting on my life.

So once I had beautiful mirrors, only to cast a reflection and now I do not need them. Poetry, like a mirror is a deep look into where we have come from and where we may go. On the other hand, this has a rhythm that reminds me of being a child. I tend to over analyse and then some. Mr. Lopez if you had the map of life this whole time,... well I guess it doesn't matter because isn't that funny, were all grown up.

It's only ourselves that can decide how we live. No one else should judge what we do even though they do. At least as an adult that's how it is.
