All that the Broken Heart wants

All that the Broken Heart wants

A Poem by Mrinalini R

Done with shrill cries, stirring wails,
The heart, The desultory dreamer, chases a pause

Enough has it had, of sterile trials of survival
Flee where will it, from itself?Elude what will it? It's own tale?

It's woe, it's rue, it's ruin aren't outlying islands
They are the very waters of its ocean, detours being mirages

Ought to exist they-- traumas unforgotten , wounds unhealed,
The tired, broken heart is willing to let questions be unanswered

Entangled in clasped knots, the suffocated heart pleads mercy
Let it live! Let it beat! Let it exist -- to his liking

Sunk, wrecked, decimated , the heart promises
To recoil within itself, to offer the perfect silence

Agreeing to the terms of fate, all it wants
Is solitude -- an epoch of solitude!
