A Sunny Day in May

A Sunny Day in May

A Poem by Mrembo

A warm sunny day in May
brings what, exactly, my way?
Longer blue skies to ponder....
the clouds that won’t go away.

Heat ray's burn my optimism,
flame my apathy from their prism.
Lethargy engulfs, light comes in,
blinding my mind’s vision .

Who needs walks in the park,
Summer BBQ's, sounds of larks?
Laughter, childish screams and play,
when I can… just stay in the dark.

In the cesspit that’s my bed,
it seems I choose a comforting dread.
An empty numb inertia bubbles
from a scorching hell in my head.

I can sympathize with this poem. I've felt this before - Trying to fake happiness because you're "supposed" to be happy is never easy. This was very well written. The emotion and mood just leaked out of every line.
