Werewolf of Sorrow

A man with an uncontrollable power makes the biggest mistake of his life.

I tried to hide my transformations from humanity ever since I was of age and began the turning. I moved to the mountains and built a small cabin to hide from everyone, but like a fool I kept her with me. My beautiful wife Ashlee. How innocent she was to all of this. The hungering slaughter that awaited every full moon. She never asked why I left at least once a month into the woods, She just assumed I went out hunting because I always came back with a deer, or a nice fat cow.

One night While we were sitting at the table feasting on some beef stew, bread, honey mead, and talking about plans of having children and what to name them, I made the mistake of not realizing that tonight was the night the blood moon rises high into the night sky, turning beasts like me into our most powerful form. The full transformation of the werewolf. The normal full moon only turned us into terrifyingly large men with the strength of four.. Eyes black as night and teeth as sharp as a Damascus blades. The full transformation though...I was always terrified of because I had no control over it. There was no stopping my mad massacre, I would eat and rip apart the flesh of anything with a heart beat. The world was mine to decimate. Just thinking about it now made my stomach turn..wait.

Suddenly I began to cough up my stew, watching my arms tear and stretch. God d****t what a dumb a*s I was! I screamed to Ashlee “GO DOWN STAIRS NOW!” She looked at me completely petrified. Not understanding why the man she loves seemed to be tearing apart and growing into a disgusting abomination. She screamed and cried running towards the basement door, closing it and barring it from the other side. I felt my bones break and stretch twofold. My head began to snap and crack. My mouth began to morph into a muzzle, tearing away skin. While teeth sharp and triple the size of a mans began to force there way through my gums, forcing my teeth to fall out and replacing them. The pain of this was intolerable, I tried to scream but instead of my voice coming out of my throat. A roar that shook the walls burst through.

Falling to my knees I felt my spine dislocate from the disks and more vertebrae grow into the empty spaces. My skin began to burst and blood sprayed the walls around me as the last of the transformation took place. My legs were ripped apart to make room for the three times longer and muscle filled legs of the beast that was now becoming me. I tried to take hold of the mind that now possessed me but to no avail. The monster that now holds me is now in control. The madness began to creep into my mind and with it, a feeling of power and blood lust. I felt my senses become more toned, while my eyes focused in on the trails left behind by my wife. My senses were so strong that the smell things left behind were visual, I could follow it like a trail.

I growled and back handed the table next to me and sent it flying through the front door completely shattering the door and the entire cabin wall. Sending splinters and chunks of wood out into the moon lit woods. I could hear the muffled crying of my wife down stairs in the basement as clear as day. I lunged across the room in one leap and ripped through the basement door in seconds. Ashlee screamed and wailed “Please no! Don't you recognize me?! I love you please don't ki-”

Before she could finish her sentence I picked her up with my monstrously huge hands with nails 5-6 inches long and sharp enough to gut her just by gliding them across her weak soft flesh. I stared deep into her beautiful green eyes one last time and squeezed her tender throat till I felt and heard a soft crack and watched the life leave the woman I once loved eyes.

5 years later

I stand tall now...next to her rocky grave with every type of flower the mountains could provide for me to surround her body. Whimpering like an unstable fool, I grabbed the picture of her I placed upon the cross and looked longingly into her eyes and wept for hours. Like I have been, every day for what felt like years. Begging her to please forgive me, That is wasn't my fault and I couldn't control myself. I walked slowly to the edge of the cliff with picture in hand and kissed her picture one last time before looking into the sky. Letting out a tormented scream into the air, listening to my voice bounce off the rocks of these ageless mountains.

I couldn't live like this anymore. Every day was a struggle to try and learn to live without her comfort. The way she used to play with my hair and tell me how much she loved me. Her smell was that of pine which made me feel at home in her arms as she would kiss my forehead. I remember her saying that if she were to die unexpectedly that she would wait for an eternity to hold me again and never let go. With this thought I grimaced and clenched my fists crunching up the picture in my hand, and let tears roll out down my face.

I let go of the picture and watched it fall down the 500 foot drop and land atop the sharp rocks below. I whispered one last thing into the wind before making my last decision in this life.“Ashlee, i'm sorry I couldn't keep living. I can't keep pushing on without you...i love you...here i come my love.” I let myself fall forward and feel the air rush passed my face and for those brief seconds as i was falling I felt happy and free. Hearing her whisper that she loves me too through the wind...closing my eyes, I accepted death...happily.
