A choiceA Poem by Cameron WilkinsonThe pain of the past ?
Those 3 words spoken with anticipation
“I love you too” I replied without hesitation A smile settled in on your face But I saw a smile that was out of place A forced grin you show as you hide your lies The person you became is one I despise For he is not the person I found love for He’s just a guy who started a war A long drawn out battle between you and I 2 against 1 because of your new guy The battle ended with you as the victor But I still fought hard and wasn’t a quitter The bruises and scars for all to see Eventually you’ll rue the day you ever crossed me Because now I’m stronger with a voice I can fight back because I have a choice Either hold on to the pain of the past Or speak my truth and be freed at last © 2021 Cameron WilkinsonFeatured Review
