New Year's Resolution

New Year's Resolution

A Story by MrOshimida27

New Year's Resolution

To not just endure,

But to overcome.

To not just succeed,

But to exceed.

To sew my heart, in stitches

Back upon my sleeve.

To embrace those that matter

And abandon those that do not.

To burn the past upon a funeral pyre

And fill my heart with flame.

To cast aside my iron shield

And leave my sword to rust.

To rebuid my world

From the ashes on up.

To wipe the blood from my chest

And the pain from my soul.

To grow great and strong

Without flexing a single muscle.

To walk through the fire and stay

As cool as ice.

Though the bullets still shall fly

And the inferno still shall burn

My spirit shall descend from the sky

A fallen angel, making his return.

This is my New Year's resolution.

Once I can forge my resolve.
